Alaska Airlines has announced its plans to launch a direct route between New York's JFK Airport and Anchorage, Alaska, during the upcoming summer season. The airline will offer this daily service starting from June 13, 2024, and it will run until August 19, 2024.
The airline will utilize its two-class Boeing 737-8 aircraft for this route, making it the sole airline to offer a direct connection between New York and Anchorage. However, it's worth noting that Alaska Airlines will face competition from United Airlines, which operates a daily service between Newark and Anchorage.
In addition to the New York-Anchorage route, Alaska Airlines is also set to launch a Saturday-only service connecting San Diego to Anchorage. This service will commence on May 18, 2024, and will continue until August 17, 2024. The airline will deploy a 737 aircraft for this route. According to Cirium flight data, no other airline currently offers a direct connection between San Diego and Anchorage.
Alaska Airlines' decision to introduce these routes underscores its commitment to expanding its network and providing passengers with more travel options during the peak summer season.
