Allegiant Air has announced a significant expansion, introducing 44 new seasonal routes this summer and adding service to three new destinations: Chicago, Houston, and Boston. This growth brings the airline's total offerings to over 500 routes. The new flights are set to commence in May and June, operating twice weekly.
In Chicago, Allegiant will debut at Midway Airport with six routes. Boston and Houston Hobby will each see four new routes. Other cities experiencing notable increases in service include Nashville with nine new routes; Knoxville, Tennessee; Destin, Florida; and Savannah, Georgia, each with five new routes; Austin, Memphis, and Asheville, North Carolina, each with four; and Pittsburgh, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Norfolk, Virginia; and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, each with three.
This expansion is supported by the addition of five new Airbus single-aisle aircraft to Allegiant's fleet last year. Drew Wells, Allegiant's vice president of planning and revenue, stated, "There is a lot of leisure demand for cities that are regional destinations, and this route expansion will address some of that need." He added that the growth aligns with Allegiant's mission to increase low-cost, affordable travel options for those who might otherwise be priced out of air travel.
Allegiant's strategy focuses on serving routes that currently lack nonstop commercial service, catering to leisure travelers seeking direct flights to regional destinations. The airline's expansion into Chicago Midway, Boston, and Houston Hobby marks its first operations in these major markets, reflecting a commitment to broadening its network and providing more travel options to its customers.
