American Airlines is expanding its European offerings for the summer 2025 season, introducing two new daily routes to Italy. Beginning May 6, the carrier will launch daily flights from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Naples, marking O'Hare as American's second U.S. gateway to the Italian city after Philadelphia, which launched summer service in 2024. The following month, on June 5, American will also begin a daily route from its Dallas/Fort Worth hub to Venice. This Dallas route will add a third gateway for the airline’s service to Venice, alongside existing routes from Chicago and Philadelphia.
American Airlines will be the only carrier operating direct flights on these two routes, making it a convenient option for travelers seeking a direct transatlantic journey from the central U.S. to southern Italy’s Naples or the popular tourist destination of Venice. Both routes will operate with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, equipped to offer business, premium economy, and economy class seating to meet a variety of traveler needs.
The addition of these routes highlights American’s continued investment in European travel options from major U.S. cities, catering to the rising demand for international destinations among U.S. travelers. The new services will offer travelers in the Midwest and South enhanced access to Italy’s rich cultural and historic sites, just in time for the peak summer travel season.
