Few & Far, an eco-conscious luxury safari brand, is set to launch a unique six-suite ecolodge in early 2025 within the Vhembe Biosphere Reserve in South Africa’s Soutpansberg Mountains. Named Few & Far Luvhondo, the lodge aims to transform traditional safari experiences with sustainable and immersive offerings designed for the environmentally aware traveler.
At the heart of Few & Far Luvhondo’s innovation is the “Solfari” — a solar-powered aerial cable car providing guests with a quiet, panoramic 25-mile view across the reserve. The Solfari’s eco-friendly design allows visitors to glide silently above the treetops, offering an elevated perspective on local wildlife and landscapes with minimal environmental impact.
The lodge will offer a range of immersive culinary experiences featuring a robust farm-to-table program. Multicourse dinners under the stars will highlight South African wines, while morning cookouts, traditional “boma” barbecues, and guided foraging excursions create unique food experiences rooted in local culture. Most ingredients will be grown on-site, ensuring seasonal freshness in every meal.
Few & Far’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond reducing impact; it actively seeks to restore local ecosystems. As part of the Verra Registered Carbon Program, Few & Far Luvhondo intends to sequester over 100,000 tons of carbon annually through dedicated rewilding and regeneration projects, making strides in both wildlife preservation and carbon capture.
Guests can choose from a variety of activities, including guided bush walks, bird-watching, mountain biking, stargazing, and “conservationist for a day” experiences that invite travelers to engage with on-the-ground preservation efforts. The lodge also offers wellness treatments using locally sourced ingredients and a meditative labyrinth walk, providing a tranquil space for relaxation.
Few & Far Luvhondo’s commitment to sustainability and unique, immersive activities make it a noteworthy addition to the high-end, eco-friendly travel landscape, promising travelers a rich, mindful connection with South Africa’s wild and scenic beauty.
