Dubai — Fiji Airways is set to become a full member of the Oneworld alliance, expanding its reach and enhancing benefits for travelers. The South Pacific airline, which services 26 destinations across 15 countries and territories, has been part of the Oneworld Connect affiliate program since 2018. The transition to full membership is expected to be completed within a year.
"Attaining full membership has always been our goal," stated Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen at a press conference during the IATA annual general meeting in Dubai on Monday.
As a current Oneworld Connect member, Fiji Airways provides certain privileges to passengers with Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire, or Ruby status, such as priority check-in. Those with Emerald and Sapphire status additionally enjoy priority boarding and access to the airline's lounge at its hub in Nadi.
Upon becoming a full member, these benefits will be extended to elite members across all Oneworld airlines. This integration means that loyalty program partnerships and interline check-in and baggage arrangements, which Fiji Airways currently has with its four Oneworld sponsor airlines—American, Qantas, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific—will be expanded.
The Oneworld alliance, celebrating its 25th anniversary, currently has 13 full members, with Oman Air set to join this year as the 14th member. Fiji Airways will become the 15th full member once the integration process is completed.
Additionally, Fiji Airways maintains codeshare partnerships with Oneworld members American Airlines and Alaska Airlines, further broadening its connectivity and service offerings for passengers.
