Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic is offering two innovative Antarctica itineraries that incorporate shorter sailings and unique flights over the Drake Passage. These new options provide travelers with an alternative way to experience the wonders of Antarctica.
Eight-Day Itinerary with Roundtrip Flight Over Drake Passage
The first itinerary is an eight-day journey that includes roundtrip flights across the Drake Passage. Guests will fly to the Chilean Base of Presidente Frey on King George Island, where they will board the recently renovated National Geographic Explorer. The cruise will explore the Antarctic region, and on the seventh day, guests will return to King George Island to fly to Puerto Natales, Chile. They will spend a night there before heading home the next day.
Ten-Day Itinerary with One-Way Sailing and Air Return
The second itinerary caters to travelers who wish to experience a one-way sailing of the Drake Passage and a flight back. Guests will embark on the Explorer in Ushuaia, Argentina, and spend two days crossing the Drake Passage to reach Antarctica. After five days of sailing in the Antarctic region, the journey will conclude at King George Island, where guests will board a chartered flight to begin their return journey.
The National Geographic Explorer's Revitalization
The National Geographic Explorer, the vessel used for these itineraries, underwent a "dramatic revitalization" in June 2023. The refurbishment features a Scandinavian design, enhancing the comfort and aesthetic appeal of the ship.
Expanding Antarctica Itineraries
With these two new itineraries, Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic now offers seven unique Antarctica itineraries and nearly 50 departures for the 2024-2025 season. This expansion reflects the growing interest in Antarctic exploration and the desire for diverse travel experiences.
These new itineraries by Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic provide an exciting opportunity for travelers to experience the majestic beauty of Antarctica in a novel and time-efficient manner, combining the thrill of sailing with the convenience of air travel.
