Southwest Airlines has launched its new Cash + Points booking option for its Rapid Rewards members, enabling them to purchase flights using a blend of points and currency. This new feature, which went live on Monday, allows passengers to use as few as 1,000 Rapid Rewards points in combination with money to secure their travel arrangements.
The initiative also extends to Southwest Business customers, who can now use cash and Rapid Rewards Business points to book corporate travel. This development enhances flexibility for travelers and positions Southwest alongside other major airlines such as United, Delta, and JetBlue, which already offer similar booking options.
Moreover, Southwest Airlines has expanded this flexible payment option to accommodations by introducing a hotel booking portal where Rapid Rewards members can utilize both points and currency to pay for lodging. This strategic move aims to provide more versatility and convenience to its members, echoing a trend in the airline industry where the cost of reward travel has seen significant increases.
