Uber is set to expand its Uber Shuttle service to the U.S. this summer, offering a new transportation option for events and airport transfers. This service, currently available in Egypt and India, aims to streamline group travel for American customers.
While specific U.S. airports where the shuttle service will be available have not been disclosed, Uber is collaborating with airport partners and local officials nationwide to roll out the service effectively.
When Uber Shuttle becomes available, customers will see a new 'Shuttle' option in the Uber app. They will be able to book up to five seats, scheduling their ride from seven days in advance to just five minutes before the shuttle's scheduled departure. Payment and real-time tracking will be possible within 25 minutes of departure through the app.
A key feature of Uber Shuttle is the upfront fare disclosure, which is not subject to surge pricing. Upon arrival, riders will validate their QR-code ticket with the driver and, similar to other Uber services, can rate and tip their driver through the app.
Uber also envisions the potential for integrating Uber Shuttle with Uber for Business (U4B) clients. Since 2021, Uber has operated shuttle routes for employees in its Mission Bay office in San Francisco, as well as for staff in Seattle and Bangalore, India. The company has started offering shuttle services to U4B clients in international markets and sees significant potential to extend this service to more U4B clients within the U.S.
