Starting October 1, United Airlines will enhance its domestic economy wine list with new options from women-owned brands, Just Enough Wines and Maker Wine. These additions include a rosé and an exclusive-to-United brut bubbles, complementing existing red and white selections. The airline, which has served over 20 million glasses of wine so far in 2024, aims to provide economy passengers with a more premium inflight experience through these high-quality, canned wines.
United's Managing Director of Hospitality Programs, Aaron McMillan, noted, "We're thrilled to now offer rosé and a higher quality brut bubbles option for our economy passengers, delivering a more premium experience onboard."
The four wine choices, served in 250ml cans, will be available for $12 per can on all mainline flights. The selection includes:
- Just Enough Wines Rosé: A crisp, dry rosé from California's Central Coast with notes of watermelon and guava.
- Maker Brut Bubbles: An aromatic sparkling wine with citrus and stone fruit flavors, crafted by award-winning winemaker Nicole Walsh.
- Just Enough Wines Cabernet Sauvignon: A full-bodied cabernet with vibrant cherry and vanilla flavors.
- Just Enough Wines Chardonnay: A medium-bodied chardonnay with notes of melon and honeysuckle.
In a shift towards sustainability, United is replacing plastic wine bottles with recyclable aluminum cans, which will eliminate an estimated 4.7 million plastic bottles annually. The focus on women-owned brands is also part of United's broader effort to support small, independent producers. Both Just Enough Wines and Maker Wine are known for their eco-friendly practices and premium-quality products.
This update is part of United's ongoing overhaul of its food and beverage program, which has also introduced new premium dishes and brands onboard since late 2023.
