Atlas Ocean Voyages is set to redefine Arctic expedition cruising with the introduction of its 2026 Arctic Season. This season will feature six and seven-night expeditions, including complimentary pre-cruise hotel stays for the first time.
The 2026 Arctic Season will debut on the World Voyager and World Navigator, introducing new ports such as the remote Skjoldungen Island in Greenland, the cultural heart of Iceland in Stykkishólmur, and the adventurous island of Senja, Norway. These intimate yachts, accommodating fewer than 200 guests, offer exclusive access to restricted areas in Svalbard, a unique advantage over larger ships. All expeditions will depart from Longyearbyen and Kangerlussuaq, featuring the pre-cruise hotel benefit.
"Atlas Ocean Voyages continues to leverage our smaller size to expand expedition experiences including exploring Svalbard, which will soon not be accessible to larger ships with stringent restrictions," said James A. Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages. "I am enthused by the Arctic program the team has assembled for the 2026 season, especially these sailings, which enable guests to explore the most remote regions."
Shorter Svalbard Expeditions
The season kicks off with a seven-night expedition from Tromsø to Longyearbyen, departing May 22, 2026, exploring ports along Norway’s stunning coast, including Hammerfest and Skarsvåg (North Cape). Additional six or seven-night roundtrip expeditions from Longyearbyen are scheduled for May 29, June 5, and June 11, 2026.
Iceland and Greenland
Atlas will also offer expeditions through Greenland, allowing travelers to explore Svalbard, Iceland, and Greenland in one extraordinary journey. Departures range from 10 to 15 nights, with dates including July 29, July 31, August 11 (solar eclipse), August 15, August 20, August 30, August 31, and September 10, 2026.
Norway
Two additional expeditions will feature the Norwegian fjords and Svalbard, with departures on June 18 and July 19, 2026.
Inclusive Private Jet Service
Expeditions starting or concluding in Longyearbyen or Kangerlussuaq will feature inclusive charter flights. For expeditions beginning or ending in Longyearbyen, guests will fly from Oslo, Norway. Those departing or concluding in Kangerlussuaq will fly from New York JFK.
New Pre-Cruise Hotel Stays
For the 2026 Arctic polar expeditions, Atlas will include a complimentary pre-cruise hotel night for all departures from Longyearbyen, with accommodations in Oslo, Norway. Additionally, the August 31, 2026, departure from Kangerlussuaq will include a pre-cruise hotel night in New York.
Exclusive Cultural Immersions
Each 2026 Polar Expedition by Atlas will offer a free Cultural Immersion experience, allowing guests to engage with local communities. Highlights include visits to Indigenous villages such as Ittoqqortoormiit, Paimutt, or Ilulisat in Greenland, and a panoramic drive in Longyearbyen, culminating with local delicacies.
Adventure activities include complimentary Zodiac sightseeing safaris, landings ashore with expert guidance, and the exhilarating polar plunge. Guests will also receive a complimentary parka to commemorate their journey.
