Princess Cruises has unveiled MedallionNet Max, a new high-speed WiFi service offering connectivity robust enough to support video game streaming aboard its ships. The enhanced service is reported to be up to three times faster than the cruise line's previous fastest internet offering.
In a live demonstration of MedallionNet Max's capabilities, Princess Cruises hosted a United Gaming Community (UGC) competition on Wednesday. The event featured 32 gamers competing from the Enchanted Princess vessel against 24 players participating from their homes.
While the cruise line's overall bandwidth remains unchanged, guests subscribing to the Max service will receive "prioritized access," ensuring faster and more reliable connections. The existing service has been rebranded as MedallionNet Classic, continuing to offer the same performance and global coverage as before.
Access to MedallionNet Max is included in the Princess Plus and Princess Premier bundles. For those opting for a la carte pricing, MedallionNet Classic is available at $24.99 per day for a single device and $44.99 per day for multiple devices. The network's bandwidth is supported by a combination of geostationary satellites, low Earth satellites, medium Earth orbit satellites, and 5G terrestrial connections.
