The tropical allure of The Bahamas is set to get even closer to Californians as the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) brings its global mission, aptly named "Bringing The Bahamas to You," to Southern California this June 14-15.
Get ready to pack your swimsuits and flip-flops, as the Ministry announces the exciting launch of JetBlue's non-stop service from Los Angeles to Nassau, commencing on November 4, 2023. The time has never been better for Californians to swap the Pacific coastline for Caribbean island vibes.
"We are thrilled that come November, travelers from California, the most populous state in the U.S. and one of the most diverse, will be able, for the very first time, board a JetBlue flight at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for non-stop service to Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in Nassau," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, the Honourable I. Chester Cooper.
So, what's the allure of The Bahamas for Californians? The islands are an enchanting mix of sun-soaked beaches, vibrant culture, and iconic landmarks. The influx of Californian visitors to the shores of the archipelago has surged, with stopover arrivals increasing by an impressive 52% from January to April 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
Moreover, 2023 is a landmark year for The Bahamas, marking the 50th anniversary of the country's independence. And you bet they're pulling out all the stops to celebrate. Events include a jubilant sea party at Montagu Beach, a concert series on Bay Street, and the 50th Independence People's Rush, offering travelers a whirlwind of festive fun, celebration, and Bahamian vibes.
The Global Tour doesn't stop in California. Late summer and fall 2023 will see the mission stopping by Atlanta, Georgia, and across the pond to the United Kingdom.
Now, with direct flights soon to be in service, Californians can effortlessly switch from LA's urban buzz to Nassau's gentle beach breeze. Start planning your unforgettable island adventure now.
