Starting May 25, Sunrise Airways will enhance its network within the Eastern Caribbean by introducing intraregional flights connecting Antigua, Dominica, St. Kitts, and St. Lucia. The airline will operate these routes using Embraer 120 twin-turboprop aircraft, each capable of accommodating 30 passengers.
The new service schedule includes two daily flights from Antigua to Dominica and Antigua to St. Kitts, and a daily flight from Antigua to St. Lucia, with all routes operational six days a week, excluding Tuesdays.
Philippe Bayard, the Chairman and CEO of Sunrise Airways, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. "All of us at Sunrise Airways have cherished each new route that we've inaugurated over the 12-year history of our airline," Bayard said. He emphasized that this expansion is particularly significant as it extends their mission of better connecting the Caribbean islands, a vision they term as "One Caribbean," from the Western to the Eastern Caribbean.
The airline highlighted that its service between Antigua and St. Lucia is currently the only direct flight connecting these two islands. This expansion follows the airline's recent initiation of flights between Miami and Haiti in October, with Cap-Haitien currently being the sole destination. As the security conditions in Port-au-Prince improve, additional routes to Haiti's capital are expected to resume.
Sunrise Airways currently serves twelve gateways across six destinations in the Caribbean and Central America, including Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Panama City, and St. Maarten. The company has announced plans for further expansion in the Eastern Caribbean in the upcoming years, though specific details remain undisclosed.
