Palisades Tahoe has reported a tragic update following the avalanche that occurred this morning on the Palisades side of the resort. The incident took place at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the GS gully area, to the skier’s right of the KT-22 chairlift.
In response to the avalanche, Palisades Tahoe Ski Patrol, along with over 100 resort personnel and members of the public, immediately conducted a thorough search of the area. The search utilized avalanche transceivers, probes, RECCO Rescue System technology, and avalanche rescue dog teams.
Tragically, a male skier sustained fatal injuries in the avalanche and was pronounced deceased by Tahoe Forest Hospital. Additionally, three other skiers were injured in the incident, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. They were released after receiving initial treatment.
The entire Palisades Tahoe team, including all first responders, extends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of those involved in this tragic incident.
