In an exciting development for West Coast cruise enthusiasts, Royal Caribbean International has announced that Quantum of the Seas, one of its most amenity-rich vessels, will begin sailing from Los Angeles in October 2025. This move positions Quantum of the Seas as the largest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet ever to be based in the city, signifying a significant expansion of the cruise line's presence on the West Coast.
Quantum of the Seas, with a passenger capacity of 4,180, will join Navigator of the Seas in offering year-round voyages from Los Angeles to the west coast of Mexico. These itineraries, ranging from two to six nights, will feature stops at popular destinations such as Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, depending on the specific voyage.
Weighing in at 168,666 tons, Quantum of the Seas becomes one of the largest ships to sail from Los Angeles and introduces Royal Caribbean's innovative Quantum Class to California. Known for groundbreaking features like bumper cars, skydiving simulators, and the North Star observation capsule, Quantum of the Seas promises an unparalleled at-sea experience.
The ship's deployment to Los Angeles marks a notable shift in Royal Caribbean's strategy, bringing its cutting-edge Quantum Class ships closer to West Coast travelers. Previously, Quantum Class vessels have been stationed in Seattle for summer sailings to Alaska, but this will be the first time one is based in California for Mexico itineraries.
Fares for the newly announced voyages aboard Quantum of the Seas are set to start at $141 per person, based on double occupancy, for a two-night journey to Ensenada. Longer sailings, such as three-night trips, begin at $240 per person, with four-night voyages starting at $271.
This expansion by Royal Caribbean not only enhances the cruising options available to West Coast travelers but also underscores the growing appeal of Los Angeles as a major cruise hub. With Quantum of the Seas, passengers can look forward to a blend of adventure and luxury, from thrilling onboard activities to breathtaking destinations along the Mexican coast.
